CRAVE Multimedia Geek

CRAVE Multimedia Geek was project to build a customized Ubuntu Distro. The customization was mainly in terms of pre installed packages. Squashfs-tools were used in this procedure.

Distro Customization Script

A second level of customization was required to further meet the needs of the labortory.

Aptcacher (Software respository for debian based distributions)

In order to save internet bandwidth and time in installing software applications on many linux machines, a repository was build using apt-cacher.

Lab Setups

Multimedia lab and library were setup on many occasions which involved OS installations, Customization of Distro and LDAP installation.

DRQueue Render farm Setup

DRQueue Render farm was setup to render 3D frames provided by blender scene files into images and videos. This procedure was performed to fasten the process since its over a distributed enviornment . It involved writing shell scripts for customization and testing for bugs and malfunction in the system.

FTP Server Setup

A FTP server was setup to share free software and project files as a temporary alternative to Archival System.
